How to Care for Your Joy Notebook Cover and Pages

Quick Answer

To keep your Joy notebook in great shape, store it flat, handle the cover with clean hands, and use a pen that won't bleed through the pages.

Step-by-Step Care Routine

1. Store Flat and Dry: Keep your Joy notebook on a flat surface away from direct sunlight and moisture. Avoid stacking heavy objects on top, which can warp the cover or dent the pages. A common mistake is storing it upright like a book — that can cause the cover to bend over time.
2. Handle the Cover with Clean Hands: Oils and dirt from your hands can transfer to the cover. Wash and dry your hands before using the notebook, especially if you plan to write for a while. If the cover does get smudged, gently wipe it with a soft, dry cloth — avoid water or cleaning products.
3. Choose the Right Pen: Test your pen on a corner page first. Ballpoint pens and fine-tip gel pens usually work well. Avoid heavy markers or wet fountain pen inks that may bleed through the thin pages. Many users find that pressing too hard with a ballpoint can create grooves on the next page — a light hand helps.
4. Avoid Eating or Drinking Nearby: Crumbs and spills are the fastest way to damage your notebook. Keep food and open drinks away from your writing area to prevent stains and sticky residue. If a spill happens, blot it immediately with a paper towel and let the page air dry — do not rub.
5. Use a Notebook Sleeve for Travel: When carrying your Joy notebook in a bag, place it in a padded sleeve or a dedicated pocket. This protects the cover from scratches and the pages from getting dog-eared. Tossing it loose with keys or pens can leave marks and dents on the cover.
